The Great Plains: America’s Newest Longest Trail
The Great Plains Trail Alliance has a goal to establish a public 2,200 mile trail spanning from Canada’s Grassland National Park on the U.S./ Canada border to Guadalupe Mountains National Park in Texas.

About the Event
Have you heard of America’s newest, longest trail? The Great Plains Trail Alliance has a goal to establish a public 2,200 mile trail spanning from Canada’s Grassland National Park on the U.S./ Canada border to Guadalupe Mountains National Park in Texas. Come join us and listen to Robert Pahre answer questions such as, “How do you make a new trail?” and “What’s so great about the Great Plains?”
Robert Pahre is a professor and department head of Political Science at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. He is a part of the board of The Great Plains Trails Alliance. His research includes politics in the national parks.
